Vic Morrow (born Victor Morozoff; February 14, 1929 – July 23, 1982) was an American actor. He gained prominence for his role as Sergeant Chip Saunders in the TV series Combat! (1962–1967), a role that helped define his career and cemented his image as a tough, cynical character actor.
Beyond Combat!, Morrow appeared in numerous films and television shows, often playing villains or other morally ambiguous characters. Some of his notable film credits include Blackboard%20Jungle (1955), King%20Creole (1958), and Dirty%20Mary,%20Crazy%20Larry (1974). He also directed a few episodes of television shows.
Morrow's life was tragically cut short during the filming of Twilight%20Zone:%20The%20Movie in 1982. He and two child actors, Myca Dinh Le and Renee Shin-Yi Chen, were killed in an on-set accident involving a helicopter. The accident sparked significant controversy and legal battles, raising serious questions about safety regulations in the film industry and leading to landmark court cases related to on-set negligence and accountability.
